Graded Sunday School Classes
Sunday school classes are available for children ages 2 through Grade 12 during our Sunday school hour (9:15-10:15 a.m.). Class time includes singing, Bible stories, and Scripture memorization.
Children's and Junior Church
Children’s church (Age 4-Grade 2) and Junior church (Grades 3-5) are held during the regular worship service time at 10:30 a.m. Like the adult worship service, it includes preaching, prayer, and singing. In addition, teachers use object lessons, “sword drills” (to find Bible passages), and devotional bookmarks to encourage the children to grow spiritually.
Sunday Evening Classes
During the evening service, children ages 4 and up join their parents in the auditorium service. (Nursery and a 2 & 3-year-olds class are available during this time.)
Wednesday Evening Classes
Classes are available for children ages 2 through Grade 12 during the midweek service. From September through May, children participate in three special "Patch the Pirate" classes: Peanut (ages 4 & 5), PeeWee (Grades 1 & 2), and "Patch the Pirate" (Grades 3-6). Based on the music of Ron "Patch" Hamilton, these classes provide an opportunity for children ages four through twelve to grow spiritually as they sing and study the Bible together. "Young sailors" learn Biblical and Godly character through music activities, devotional lessons, intriguing stories, and games. The program includes daily devotions for sailors to motivate them to read and study the Bible on their own at home.
Neighborhood Bible Time (NBT)
Since 1989, Westgate Baptist Church has hosted "Neighborhood Bible Time," an exciting week-long children's outreach similar to Vacation Bible School. Over the years, thousands of children have attended! Many have been saved and have made decisions to live for Christ. New families have also joined WBC as a result of NBT. Two trained NBT Evangelists lead action-packed group rallies where they sing fun Christian songs and tell captivating stories. In their classes, children learn a missionary and Bible story each day. A highlight for many of the children is earning ribbons for attending NBT, bringing friends, and memorizing verses. In the evening rallies, teens meet for games, skits, and food, where they are challenged with messages on salvation and holy living. Westgate's NBT program also includes a special Morning for Moms & Grandmoms session on Thursday and a Friday evening awards program. Read more about Neighborhood Bible Time at NBT's Website
