Tuesday's Treasures.

Every Tuesday evening at participating churches, "Tuesday's Treasures" (a ministry of Quiet Waters Outreach, a non-profit organization serving individuals with develop-mental disabilities, their families, and their caregivers) meet together to sing songs, hear a Bible lesson, pray, make crafts, and eat yummy treats! Under the leadership of Brad and Fong Grey, WBC sponsors the second Tuesday of each month. This is a very special time not only for the Treasures, but for those who are privileged to share the love of Jesus with them. If you are interested in serving in the ministry of Tuesday's Treasures, contact Brad or Fong Grey.Go To Top

Visitation.

Each Tuesday night at 6:45 PM and Saturday at 1:00 PM, our church meets to go out into our community and visit those who have recently visited the church, share the gospel with our neighbors, and visit those who cannot get out or are sick. The purpose of visitation is to fulfill the Great Commission by sharing Christ and to disciple new believers.
In the last year, we have held nine Evangelism Outreach Training sessions to help equip us to be witnesses for Christ. Mark 16:15 commands, "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." We must go out in faith, expecting God to work through us! If you have not come to visitation before, consider coming and being part of God's work here at WBC.Go To Top

Evangelism Outreach Training (EOT).

Pastor Jaquith (and other staff members) periodically teach these sessions on witnessing on Sunday late afternoons. The first sessions in this series began in August 2009 with the goal of providing training in the area of soul winning, outreach, and visitation.
As Christians, we each have a responsibility to fulfill the Great Commission: "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature" (Mark 16:15). Our ultimate goal in providing EOT is to enlist every member of Westgate Baptist Church in being a faithful witness for Christ.Go To Top

Union Gospel Mission Service.

Since 2007, our church has been involved in holding services at the Union Gospel Mission in downtown Portland (3 NW 3rd Ave.). Founded in 1927 by some forty churches in the area, the Union Gospel Mission exists to assist the homeless in Portland "through offering meals and Christian outreach to the homeless and needy and providing addiction recovery." On every fifth Tuesday, a group from our church leads a forty-five minute service which includes singing, special music, a testimony, and a short Gospel message. Afterwards, a meal is provided. The youth group has assisted with serving meals on several occasions. As people wait in line for food, we have opportunity to distribute tracts and share the Gospel one-on-one with some of them. We also provide music during this time, typically hymns on the piano and violin. This is a special opportunity to be a Good Samaritan to the needy in our community and demonstrate Christ's love for those who are hungry not only for food, but for the Good News!Go To Top
